Position Summary: The Development Coordinator acquires an extensive understanding of WFRI, its mission and strategic goals to act as an ambassador to donors and the wider community and supports strategic and cost-effective fund raising effort to benefit WFRI initiatives.  In collaboration with the ED grow a philanthropic process.  In this capacity, create, implement, and manage policies, systems, and procedures that support timely and accurate, donor and grant documentation and reporting to ensure that the organization’s strategy is met.  The Incumbent uses creativity, industry knowledge and attention to detail to execute the WFRI annual fund development plan to support the organization’s financial goals for operations, grant making and the WFRI endowment.  The Development Coordinator works to build a positive philanthropic environment through meticulous record keeping and thoughtful management of donor cultivation, stewardship and recognition.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement stewardship activities for donors under the direction of the ED, including timely gift processing and receipting, acknowledgement letters, recognition, and stewardship gifts and/or thank you calls, when appropriate. Proper telephone etiquette a must.  Ensure the fulfillment of pledges via systematic reminders and thank you letters.
  • Plan and implement development events including, but not limited to, small-scale fundraising and “friend”-raising events.  Lead, plan and execute all organization fundraising events.  In this capacity, work directly with the Fund Development Committee to adequately cultivate, solicit and acknowledge event sponsorships and paid marketing initiatives; ensure sponsor benefits are provided.  Work with vendors to ensure services provided are of excellent quality and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Inform and engage philanthropic partners on ways to give by working with ED and volunteers to create and maintain up-to-date brochures, web pages, and campaign materials that list available gift vehicles, benefits and instructions for execution.
  • While adhering to guidelines and policies, assist with writing copy for e-newsletters for cultivation and stewardship purposes, develop related web content, solicitation and cultivation materials; use social media, online and mobile giving tools to broaden philanthropic support; create stewardship reports for the Board, invitations, and thank-you letters; keep acknowledgement letters current and personal.
  • In collaboration with the ED, schedule and produce direct mail and e-solicitation campaigns, orders supplies, coordinate required activities with vendors/partners/sponsors; manage and segment mailing lists, and input and extract all donor and constituent data in Little Green Light for reporting purposes.
  • Support the WFRI strategic plan for fund development.  In this capacity, she/he provides detailed plans on all FD activities and timeframes for meeting specific operating, grant making, and endowment goals; creates monthly status reports on the plan highlighting goal achievement to the ED.
  • Develop and manage relationships that lead to high-level support from prospects. This encompasses the development of personal solicitation strategies for each prospect to include gift-range, volunteer/staff assignments, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and recognition.
  • Contribute to a strong, positive culture of volunteers, engaging and developing volunteer relationships and supporting increased volunteer leadership development.
  • Manage and ensure data integrity in the donor database in Little Green Light (FD database) as well as Constant Contact and Razoo.
  • Research, write and submit major gift requests and grant proposals to individuals, organizations, corporations and foundations.
  • All other projects as assigned by the ED.

 

Education:

Bachelors Degree (non-profit administration or  related course of study)

Experience:

At least 3 (5 preferred) years experience in fund development function for a non-profit organization including executing annual goals with specific metrics and reporting.

Skills Required:

Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities that include top-notch English language verbal and written skills.

Strong working ability in computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office, databases (e.g. Little Green Light) and Google Documents.

Proven working ability with online, mobile and social media giving tools.

Proven working ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse donor base, volunteers and community groups.

Proven working ability to manage multiple priorities, simultaneously.
