Great part-time opportunity for an experienced development professional:

Immediate opening to be the first Executive Director of this family led foundation. The John E. Fogarty Foundation for Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (JEFF) was founded in 1964 by the late Congressman John E. Fogarty of Rhode Island and has been led by family and trusted friends for over 50 years. The Foundation is seeking an inspirational and highly collaborative leader who is innovative, creative and resourceful. The inaugural Executive Director will have the opportunity to shape and grow the Foundation for the future.

The Executive Director will be responsible for the leadership, planning and implementation of all operations pertaining to the foundation’s mission and strategic plan. This will include:

Business operations: management of office, budget, website and social media

All aspects of fundraising: annual appeal, prospect research and the planning and production of fundraising events

Oversee grant making process: work with the board and grantees on proposals, final reports and grant awards

Board development, recruitment and training: will work with board members to craft policy and build capacity for the JEFF and the people it serves

Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Three years of executive level experience in the non-profit sector
  • Proven fundraising experience in conducting successful fundraising campaigns, and meeting fundraising goals and objectives
  • Ability to show initiative and work independently
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, computer literacy
  • Highly motivated and energetic 
  • Excellent judgment and diplomacy
  • Ability to lead and achieve positive results
